No audio when connecting to a monitor that does not have an audio input.

I set up the Plugable and had no problem connecting my laptop to a monitor using only the HDMI inputs. However, the audio is not working. The monitor does not have an audio input. I still get audio from the laptop when the Plugable is disconnected. The headphone jack in the laptop is working for headphones and an external speaker, but I get no sound when I plug it into the Plugable headphone jack.

Hi David,

Thanks for posting! I’m sorry to hear about this audio issue, but I’d be happy to help.

Based on your description, I suspect you need to change the default playback device. Assuming you are using Windows 10, please follow these steps:

  1. Press “Windows Key” + Q to open the search prompt
  2. Type “Sound” and then choose the Sound option
  3. Under the “Playback” tab, there should be multiple playback devices. Right-click on the device that is labeled “Plugable Audio”, then choose “Set as Default Device”
  4. Click “Apply”, then “Done”

We have a brief video that shows how to check and change this setting if you are interested (https://youtu.be/6iUQxuN2AXw).

Please let me know if this helps!

Thank you,

Mitchell
