New TBT-UDZ HDMI Intermittent monitors

Hello - Just set up my new TBT3-UDZ with both my work laptop (Lenovo ThinkPad) and personal laptop (HP ENVY) with two HP VH240a (1920x1080) monitors connected to the dock through HDMI. It doesn’t matter which computer I’m using, but whichever screen is plugged into the top HDMI port of the docking station will randomly flash and intermittently go off and on. I’ve changed out cables and checked to make sure it isn’t a problem with the monitors and it is not. It appears to be a problem with the top HDMI port on the docking station.

Also, when I have the HP Envy connected with the Thunderbolt connection it will only detect the monitors as 640x420 and I’m unable to select anything different.

I’ve seen several other similar posts about the intermittent monitor issue would greatly appreciate guidance or tips on how to resolve both issues listed above with my specific set-up.

We have been tracking some issues seen like this with some Intel Iris Xe based computers. To best assist in finding out what’s wrong and if there is anything we can suggest that may help, we have a troubleshooting tool that helps us find out what is going on in situations like this. Looking at the diagnostics and comparing with other similar cases, I would recommend these following updates from HP for your system:

  1. Updated BIOS:

  2. Updated AMD Graphics Drivers:

If after installing these updates and you are still encountering intermittent display issues, please let me know. My hope is that the updates may help, but I can confirm that similarly configured AMD Ryzen laptops have been having some display issues.

Worst case scenario if we’re unable to get things to remain stable, we may need to offer you a return for a refund, or to suggest a possible alternative docking station.
