Need to disconnect when USB drives are plugged in?

Does the Plugable Universal Docking Station require you to disconnect USB drives the same way as when they are plugged directly into a laptop (via the “Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media” option)… or can the USB cable connecting the Plugable to the PC be simply removed when relocating the laptop to another location?

You *ALWAYS* need to safely eject external storage via USB if you want to keep your external hard drives and SD cards well and alive. It doesn’t matter if the devices are plugged into the USB port on your computer or the docking station.
