My old laptop crashed so I pulled the hard drive out. I want to use the U3 to transfer my stuff from my old hard drive to the hard drive on my new laptop. I do not want to use the old drive as external drive just keeping it back up my music and pictures.

Thank you for contacting Plugable support! I’d be more than happy to assist you with this issue.
When a hard drive is inserted to our docking station, you can access the files on the drive through Windows Explorer. The hard drive will show up as an external hard drive, you can copy data to or from it. You can also use it for backups.
