Over the 4 months, one by one, my charging ports have stopped working. I now have 1 port that works reliably.
I’ve tried unplugging the hub’s power supply and then plugging it back in and on one port it shows that it’s charging, which lasts for less than a minute and then stops.
I have iPhones and an iPad plugged into the charging ports on this hub.
In addition to that, almost since I purchased this hub, the hub regularly disconnects and then sometimes reconnects the external hard drives that are plugged into it.
I’m losing data and I’m worried that it may be damaging the external hard drives that are plugged into it.
I’ve checked my cables for all of these issues and they’re working fine.
Thank you for posting! I am sorry your docking station is not working as expected and I would be happy to help.
Thank you as well for the detail you provided and the testing you have performed that is much appreciated. Based on your description of the behavior, our next step is to get some additional information.
Please keep the dock connected to your system (even though not working) and send the output of our diagnostic utility PlugDebug → http://plugable.com/support/plugdebug to us directly via support@plugable.com with ‘For Ticket 375520’ in the subject line. This will allow us match things up and examine some log files from your system to help determine the next steps.
Please also include your Amazon Order ID number for the docking station purchase in your direct email. Please do not post the Order ID or the PlugDebug file in our public forum.
Thank you for giving us the chance to help!
I just now saw your reply.
I will do this this evening and send off the information to you.
Thank you.

Hi Michael,
Thanks for the update.
In the event that you find the hub not powering on after the power adapter has been connected it may be due to the power switch being turned off. On the back of the USB3-HUB10C2 there is a physical switch that can be toggled Left for Power Off and Right for Power On.
Hopefully this will help to fix the issue.

show me where I have written anything about my USB hub turning off.
I’m now down to one charging port and my external drives keep getting disconnected.
I am sorry for any confusion, however the reason for asking about the overall power status of the USB3-HUB10C2 was due to a lack of connection to the host computer as seen in the log files that were sent.
As you confirmed that the issue was not with the overall power, we did reply with additional questions last week about the Hard Drives you mentioned having issues with to further narrow in on the issue you are experiencing.
One of the main concerns is the amount of power it takes to drive some USB hard drives. The USB3-HUB10C2 can only support up to 1500mA through the top two ports while the other 8 USB ports deliver only 900mA of power. Many USB hard drives require more Amps and tend to crash when the power is low.
The second concern is that logs show only USB 1.0 and USB 2.0 connections. With USB 2.0 reaching speeds of 480 Mb/sec the issues you mentioned could be due to a data logjam between the Hub and computer if more than one drive is trying to communicate through a single USB 2.0 connection.
If you have a chance, please send us the requested information from our latest response.
Thank you,
