Mouse won't work unless it's plugged into the docking station

I have a plugable USB 3.0 docking station at work. I take my laptop home at night. I don’t take the docking station with me. When I set up my laptop at home WITHOUT my docking station, my laptop doesn’t “see” my wired mouse when it’s plugged directly into my USB drive. The mouse will ONLY work if it’s running through the docking station. I wouldn’t have bought the docking station if I knew I couldn’t plug keyboards and mice directly into the laptop after I installed the docking station software.

I need my wired mouse to work with my laptop regardless of whether I am using my docking station. Help.
