My wired mouse (which is connected to the docking station) keeps disappearing or lagging/hanging up on my laptop screen. I can sometimes fix it temporarily by unplugging and re-plugging the mouse cord into the docking station. However, when the mouse pointer disappears, I often have to reboot the computer for it to reappear.
I don’t seem to have these problems when a mouse is connected directly to the laptop or when using the trackpad.
Thank you for contacting Plugable support! Sorry to hear about this issue. I’d be more than happy to assist you.
We’ve got a troubleshooting FAQ step that may help with this mouse situation:
Problem: My wired (or wireless) mouse and/or keyboard are experiencing lag/latency (jumpy/jerky mouse pointer movement, missing key-presses, duplicate key-presses, etc) when connected to the dock.
Solution: Dell released a patch that changes a Windows Registry entry related to the Intel Management Engine that is not Dell exclusive which has resolved these issues for several of our customers using a range of different host systems from different manufacturers. We recommend to try installing this patch if you have some of the aforementioned issues: https://downloads.dell.com/FOLDER03471411M/13/Dell_Dock_USB_TYPE-C_PATCH_2K0JJ_A00_SETUP_ZPE.exe
Since your mouse may stop working entirely until a reboot, this may be a different kind of problem, but the aforementioned patch will be a good place to start.
If it doesn’t help, what make and model laptop and mouse do you have?
