Monitor is completely blank (in powersave) when using the DVI to USB adapter

Hi,
I currently have 2 monitors running on my laptop - 1 is normal VGA, the other is DVI so it’s using the DVI to USB adapter.

I’ve installed the latest driver - 5.6.31870. Windows 7 recognises the monitor as a display and I can configure it, however it just goes into powersave with a black screen. If the monitor is connected independently to my laptop it works fine.

Any suggestions please?
