When I try to plug in a microSD card, it would show that it’s “Offline” due to a signature collision. If I follow several online suggestions and try to change the ID in diskpart, it doesn’t work. After changing the disk id to something different, if I do “online disk”, I would get “Virtual Disk Service Error: The object is not found.”
The same microSD card, if I put it in a SD adapter and put on my laptop, it shows up as an SD drive.
How do I fix this?
Hello,
Thank you for contacting Plugable support! Sorry to hear about this issue. I’d be more than happy to assist you.
To be fully up front I am uncertain why this issue is occurring, and we have not encountered this issue with the TBT-UDH2 dock before, but I will certainly help to figure out a solution.
To begin, I have a few questions:
-
Can you say if this occurs with multiple microSD cards, or do you only have the single card at this moment?
-
Are you able to share what brand/model of microSD card is having this issue?
-
If you are able and as a test, if you backup your data from the card using your other card reader, then reformat the card, is it then able to be recognized in the TBT-UDH2 card reader?
I would also like to get a closer look from a software perspective if possible. We have a troubleshooting tool that helps us find out what is going on in situations like this. Please plug the dock (with your microSD card inserted into the dock’s card reader) into your computer, then go to this page and follow the instructions there: http://plugable.com/support/plugdebug
When emailing us the diagnostics results to support@plugable.com, please mention ticket 503675 in the email subject line so we can match things up. Please don’t attach the diagnostics here. I can then offer some next steps based on what I’m able to see.
Please don’t hesitate to let us know of other questions.
Thanks again for contacting Plugable support and best wishes!

That’s weird. I followed your suggestion and tried several different microSD cards. Different brand/size seems to work, so I went back to the original one (Amazon Kexin 32GB) and now it’s working.
I’ll try to get the debug info if it happens again.
Thanks.
Thanks for the update! Glad to hear it seems to be working now, although that is indeed a bit weird.
Please do keep me in the loop if you run into further troubles.
Best wishes,
Josh
