Macbook Air (sept 2013) compatibility with USB 3.0 to HDMI/DVI on OS X Mavericks/Mountain Lion

Hi,

I have a question regarding “Plugable USB3-HDMI-DVI USB 3.0 to HDMI/DVI Adapter (Supports Monitors up to 2048×1152)” (http://plugable.com/products/usb3-hdm…).

The new Macbook Air (released 2013) supports USB 3.0 and I wanted to know if it would be compatible with it. It is running OS X Mountain Lion and eventually will be running Mavericks.

Thanks.

Hi Vitaliy,

Thanks for reaching out to us. I am happy to answer your question regarding OS X Mavericks/Mountain Lion compatibility with our USB 3.0 to HDMI/DVI adapter.

The biggest thing to keep in mind when trying to use any of our DisplayLink based products like the USB 3.0 to HDMI/DVI on OS X is that the experience will not be as good as that on Windows. To get a general idea of the limitations you may experience using OS X, I would encourage you to take a look at the following blog post:

As to using the USB 3.0 HDMI/DVI adapter on Mavericks, there are a lot more unknowns. As of right now, DisplayLink is in the process of testing out a new driver for Mavericks, there are already some known limitations. It is also likely that many of the previous video limitations listed here, http://plugable.com/2013/07/16/displa…, will remain. I would suggest that you take a look at the release notes if you would like to know more about the specific issues with DisplayLink and Mavericks:

If you have any other questions, please let me know.
