Lenovo ThinkPad T14 Gen 4 TP00135D

hi team,
I have a Plugable USB-C Docking station which I have had since 2018. The serial code underneath is D-18-00014562. I believe it is the UD-ULTCDL model however it doesnt have this info on the docking station itself.

Work has just given me a new laptop - Lenovo ThinkPad T14 Gen 4 (Compliance ID: TP00135D). I cannot get my plugable docking station to connect to my two external screens via USB-C. The USB-C connection does charge this laptop though.

I previously was using this set up with a HP Laptop (model: 14-cd0008ca HP Pavilion x360) and was able to connect two screens via the docking station and also have the laptop as a third screen.

Can you please assist as to how I can connect the two external screens at the least, and hoping to have the laptop screen still as a third screen. Or is this docking station not compatible with this Lenovo laptop and I would have to look at getting another docking station?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Also noting I bought my Plugable docking station when living in Canada but I now live in Australia.

Thank you.

Ok so after hunting down extra cables I have managed to get all 3 screens working with following set up:

1 x screen plugged into the ThinkPad laptop directly via HDMI cable
1 x screen connected to the Plugable docking station 4K HDMI port, then the docking station plugged into the laptop’s USB-C port. The docking station is charging the laptop also

Would be interested to still know if there is a Plugable docking station that works with 2 screens so only have the USB-C cable connected to the laptop to run 2 screens.

thank you.

Hi there,

Thank you for reaching out, and welcome to the community!

You should be able to connect up to three external displays through the UD-ULTCDL docking station, assuming the unit is functioning correctly. Since the (HDMI 4K)DisplayPort Alt Mode connection works, but the DisplayLink-powered ports do not, it’s possible that the DisplayLink chipset within the dock is faulty, or that the system is missing the required DisplayLink drivers. I’d recommend starting with a clean reinstall of the DisplayLink software:

  1. Disconnect the dock from your system and remove its power cable to turn it off completely (this is important for resetting the unit). Please keep it disconnected until the final step.
  2. Uninstall any software with ‘DisplayLink’ in the name via Control Panel > Programs and Features. If no entries are found, move on to the next step.
  3. Download, extract, and run the DisplayLink Cleaner Tool.
  4. Reboot your computer (even if not prompted).
  5. Download and install the 11.5M0 DisplayLink software.
  6. Reconnect the power cable to the dock first. Once the dock powers on, reconnect it to your system.
