Just purchased a Lenovo Laptop and want to connect an older HP LCD display. Which adapter do you recommend?

The Lenovo ideapad has USB 3 and USB type “C”.

Hello Leo, thanks for posting! Would you be able to let us know the model of Lenovo Ideapad and HP monitor you’d like to connect? We will want to examine the specifications online and determine if any of our adapters would be a good fit.

Thank you,

Hi David. Did you get my response with the info you requested?

Hi Leo, looking through ticket history we had only received one comment on one of our blog posts from you stating that the HP monitor is a “H.P. W-1858 LCD Monitor,” and we had replied to that comment. However, we do not have one with mention of the system you are using.

Thank you,

Hi Leo, we haven’t tested with the same HP monitor and Lenovo Ideapad laptop, but one of our UGA-3000 adapters or our USB3-3900DHE adapters may be the best fit to connect your monitor if you wish to use the USB 3.0 ports. In looking at the specifications online (https://www3.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops…) it does not appear that the USB-C port supports video output so there is nothing we can suggest that uses this port.

Alternatively, you could also just use an HDMI to DVI cable like this one –> https://www.amazon.com/dp/B014I8UL8U/ to connect from the HDMI port on your laptop to the DVI port on the monitor.

Thank you,
