is it ok to plug a non chargable device into a charging usb port

I have a 7 port powered USB hub that has 2 charging ports, is it ok to use the charging ports for an item that isn’t chargeable. Will it harm the device plugged into the charging port?

Hi Barry,

Thank you for your post! In most circumstances, yes, you should be able to plug any USB device in a ‘charging’ USB port. Our hubs are designed so that charging ports can also serve as data ports for non-charging devices.

As long as the hub you are using is one of our own or another brand that has properly introduced device signaling to turn the charging portion on or off for a device, you should be fine!
