I get to the point of installing the Diplaylink software but when it gets the the 2nd stage it says it needs to close my setpoint software and it cannot delete my previous version of the disply link core software! I’ve tried to delete it through every means I know but it can’t find the displaylink.msi Please help me!

Hi Stan,

Thanks for posting. I’d be happy to help with your Plugable product!

Can you let me know which specific Plugable device you are trying to setup?

Based on your description it sounds like you may have an earlier version of the DisplayLink software installed that the new version is having difficulty removing. You don’t mention which version of Windows you are using, but in general with behavior like you describe the best way to move forward is to disconnect the Plugable device from your system, try and uninstall the DisplayLink Core software from the Control Panel, Programs & Features (don’t worry if it fails) and then run the DisplayLink Cleaning Utility –> http://www.displaylink.com/downloads/… and reboot the system. There are specific instructions for running the utility here –> http://support.displaylink.com/knowle…

Once rebooted, download and install the latest recommended version of the DisplayLink driver from our site here –> http://plugable.com/drivers/displaylink and reconnect the Plugable device when prompted.

Let us know if that information helps and we’ll go from there.

Thank you,

Bob

Thanks Bob…I’ve spent the last 5 hrs trying to do it myself! It worked like a charm! BTW…this all transpired today after taking Micorsoft up on there “free” upgrade to Windows 10! Everything was working fine but I HATED windows 10 so I uninstalled it…that’s when the trouble started!

Hi Stan,

Thanks for getting back with the update. I’m glad everything is working properly now. Please let us know if you need any help in the future!

Thank you,

Bob
