Can I use your UGA 2x-A USB to VGA/DVI/HDMI adapter with an HP TouchSmart 610 in extended mode, not just “mirrored” image for a 2nd monitor?
Hi Sarah,
Thanks for contacting us and asking! As far as I know the HP Touchsmart does not support extended monitor when in touchscreen mode. This is because when the displays are in extend mode, the desktop size changes and when the system uses a touchscreen, an “extended” display will be outside the touch area.
So if the external monitor that you are going to connect is going to be another touchscreen, then you will only be able to mirror/duplicate the main monitor when connected through the Plugable UGA-2K-A (or any USB Graphics Adapter). But if you disable touchscreen, you can set the external monitor connected through the Plugable UGA-2K-A to ‘extend’ mode and it should work fine.
Hope the above information helps! If you need any additional information, please do feel free to shoot us an email at support@plugable.com.
Regards,
Roze
Thanks so much for your help!
Do you have any idea how I disable the Touchscreen?
Sarah,
Here are the steps to disable touch:
-
Click Start and then Control Panel
-
Click Hardware and Sound
-
Click Pen and Touch as shown in the screenshot below :

- If you click the Touch tab, you will see that the ‘Use your finger as an input device’ is selected as shown in the screenshot below:

-
Click on the checkbox near the “Use your finger as an input device.” to uncheck this option
-
Click Apply and then OK
The above steps should disable touch and you will need to use a mouse and a keyboard like a regular system.
Once touch is tuned off, you can enable ‘Extend’ mode for multiple monitors.
