How to install usb sound card in Libreelec?

Hello,

I just bought a plugable usb audio adapter for my raspberry pi 3b running Libreelec 8.2.2 for kodi. I tried to select it from the menu and it delivered sound but with enormous white noise.
I also tried to use you tutorial to install the usb sound card but it doesn’t apply to libreelec, the files aren’t there.
What can I do?

Hello Daniel,

Thanks for reaching out to us on our forums! Unfortunately, we haven’t tested the Plugable USB Audio Adapter with LibreELEC branch of Linux so we’re uncertain about the performance with that OS branch. That said however, there are a few things to try. You could try adjusting the audio output gain settings within the operating system, as that may help reduce the white noise. Alternately, you may need to manually compile the module for the C-MEDIA HS 100B chip into the LibreELEC build you’re using though I unfortunately do not have a link to the module/driver package you would need.

Ultimately, the issue likely is either with the driver module pre-installed in the LibreELEC build or with the audio settings within the OS. If possible, I’d recommend using the adapter with a Windows or macOS computer to try and rule out the adapter as the source of the problem. If it’s looking like the adapter is the cause, send an email to support@plugable.com and we’ll be happy to continue working with you!

Patrick
