How do I wire a standard mic to the 3.5mm input jack

Just want to plug a normal mic into the 3.5mm input jack. How is it wired? Tip to what, ring to what, sleeve to what? I’ve been an audio engineer for 30 years. I know how to use a soldering gun. I don’t understand why no one seems to know how to do this.

Hello Johnny - I am sorry to say, this won’t work due to amplification. You would need a pre-amp in line to get a standard XLR microphone to work with this adapter. This is a simple audio adapter to handle run of the mill headsets.

This product -> https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001PPXFAG would be more appropriate since it accommodates the +48V of Phantom Power.

The wiring is standard and a good example can be found here -> https://www.splitbrain.org/blog/2010-…
