Horizontal lines on display

just purchased the 160 USB 2.0. Often after a short period of inactivity, the monitor is only displaying the top half of the screen and the bottom half is moving horizontal lines. Windows 7, i7 (Quad) with 12 GB Ram. Is there something wrong with the unit?

Hi Dave,

Thanks for posting here! I’m sorry to know about the issue you are seeing. Every time we have had a report of half the screen blanking off or getting distorted on a display connected via one of our USB Graphics adapter or Dock, the cause has always been a software component installed on the system.

Here are a couple of links where other customers saw the same issue:

Could you connect the Plugable UD-160-A to the system, run the DisplayLink Support tool (instructions here: http://plugable.com/support/displayli… ) and email the resulting .zip to support@plugable.com along with your Amazon order ID and a link to this thread?

We will analyze it we and provide you with the steps to resolve your issue quickly.

Roze

sent zip file to address above. Checked out similar issues. I am able to correct the issue temporarily by unplugging power to unit.

For the benefit of anyone who is interested:

The issue that Dave and the others saw were caused by older drivers installed on the system for the USB Host controller. Updating to the latest drivers fixed the issue.

If you see a similar issue on your system, please run the DisplayLink Support tool (instructions here: http://plugable.com/support/displayli… ) with our product connected to the system and email the resulting .zip to support@plugable.com along with your Amazon order ID and a link to this thread?

Analyzing the .zip will help us in determining if the cause of the issue you are seeing is the same as the others and what would be the steps to take to resolve the issue quickly.

Regards,
Roze
