Hooking up 2 printers across the room

What is the best way to hook up 2 printers that are across the room? The 5m extension looks like its long enough, so it might be worth a try. Do you have a hub that has been tested with USB2-5M to get 2+ ports on the remote end?

Hi Patrick,

Thanks for contacting Plugable. We’re here to help.

If the printers are all you intend to connect to the 5M cable (http://plugable.com/products/USB2-5M)), you would be fine with connecting this two-port hub to the end of the cable: http://plugable.com/products/USB2-2PORT.

With this configuration, you could just connect each printer to the two-port hub via its normal USB cable.

If you have other devices you’d want to connect at the end of the 5M cable and your room layout permits it, you could connect a self-powered hub–that is, one with its own AC adapter that plugs into an electrical outlet–to the end of the cable.

We have several self-powered hubs that you can view at http://plugable.com/products/hubs.

With a self-powered hub at the end of the cable, you could attach USB devices to the hub that rely on the USB connection for their power (e.g., flash drives).

Please let us know if you have any additional questions or need setup support should you purchase any of our products.

Best Regards,

Aaron
