I have a USB headset plugged into one of the USB-A ports on my TBT4-UD5 dock, which is connected to an Acer Swift 3 running Windows 11. Everything works fine until PC enters sleep mode; when it awakes, it no longer recognizes the headset. If I unplug the headset from the dock and plug it back in, Windows immediately recognizes it again. I also have a USB keyboard and mouse plugged into the dock, and Windows does not lose track of those devices when waking from sleep. This problem seems to have started in just the past day or two, which suggests that it might be related to a recent Windows 11 update. I’ve seen a number of posts suggesting that the issue might be related to the USB settings in the Windows power management plan, but I don’t even see “USB selective suspend” as an option I can adjust.
Two additional pieces of information:
- When the PC wakes from sleep, if I go into the Device Manager in Control Panel, the USB Headset device is listed, but with a yellow triangle warning icon and a message that says “device will not start”.
- If I open the device properties for the headset, the Driver tab shows that it’s using a driver provided by Microsoft, which is dated 7/19/2024 (which seems to support the idea that a recent Windows update introduced the problem)
Hello there,
Thank you for reaching out on the forums!
I am sorry to hear that you are running into issues with your setup, but I would be happy to help diagnose the issue here.
One potential solution we can try here is to roll back the drivers on the headset:
- Press
Windows
+X
and selectDevice Manager
. - Find your USB headset under the appropriate section and right-click on it.
- Select
Properties
. - Go to the
Driver
tab. - Click on
Roll Back Driver
and follow the on-screen instructions.
Please let me know if this helps at all!
Thank you,
Evan
