Having trouble setting up the Dual Monitor docking station

Hi,

I used the Pluggable 3900 Dual Monitor docking station to attempt to connect two monitors to my laptop. I connected the Docking station to my computer and then connected the two monitors via HDMI cords to the docking station.

The laptop and one of the computers are connected (monitor now looks like a slave to the laptop) and the other monitor has power mirroring the laptop home page but not active. I am using Windows 10 and the laptop is a Dell Inspiron 15 5000.

Problems:

  1. Monitor 2 not active and now showing in the display.
  2. Don’t know how to display different data in the monitors - (the one that is functioning is acting as a slave).

Can you help?

Thanks!

Hi Patricia,

Thank you for posting! I am sorry things are not working fully as expected while using your Plugable UD-3900 docking station and I would be happy to help!

Based on your description, may I ask you to please double-check within the Display Settings application (available via right-clicking on an empty space of your desktop), under the ‘Multiple displays’ section, that each display detected by the system is set as an Extension of your desktop? You will have to click on each display number at the top of the Display Settings window one at a time in order to check the settings for each one individually.

In other words, we don’t want Windows marking any of them as ‘Disconnected’ or as a ‘Duplicate’. I also made a short video demonstrating this process that can help provide more context → https://youtu.be/irAUYfdTp4I

I also made some multi-monitor tutorial videos you may find helpful here → https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLmKV1bysy-PHbQ-J9rytO2n-Z87tIfMbb

Apologies again for the frustration, and thank you for giving us the chance to help!
