General Setup

How many adapters do I need to connect two VGA monitors with the Plugable USB-VGA-165 USB to VGA Adapter? Will one work using two monitors? I’ll be using multiple laptops to connect and if I want to use the third screen of the laptop what would I needt to get?

Hi Jim,

Thanks for posting your question here! You can connect only one monitor through one unit of the Plugable USB-VGA-165 (or any USB Graphics Adapter). This means you would need two units to connect two external monitors.

Our USB Graphics Adapters are high powered USB 2.0 devices and require close to the 500mA of power to work. If you are looking to connect both the monitors to different laptops, I would suggest connecting them through a self powered USB HUB like our Plugable 7 Port Hub which is capable of providing 500mA of power to each downstream USB port. You then only have to connect the Hub (a single connection) to whichever laptop you need the external monitors to be connected to at that time.

Hope the above information helps! If you need additional information, please feel free to post back here or shoot us an email at support@plugable.com. We are here to help!
