galliumo/ ubuntu

hi i bought a usb 3.0 to ethernet adapter and i have a acer chromebook 14 with galliumos installed and i cant figure out how to get the driver installed i tryed HOWTO: ASIX 88178 USB ETHERNET ADAPTER ON UBUNTU 10.10 LINUX and it installed asix.c and axis.h but there is no actual file am i doing something wrong?

Hi Stephen,

Thank you for posting about this. We haven’t done any testing with Galliumo. However, it is built on Ubuntu 14.04, and should not require adding drivers.

Also, the USB3-E1000 adapter uses the ASIX 88179 chip, so the instructions you are looking at probably wouldn’t work.

Could you run our diagnostic program? It will gather device information and installation logs that will help me understand what is happening.

To do this, please connect the adapter to your computer with it connected to your network, then restart the computer. After that, please go to this page, and follow the instructions there:

http://plugable.com/support/plugdebug

When you run the program, it will create a zip file in your home directory with your computer name and the date. Please send that file directly to our support email address: support@plugable.com

Please put “For Ticket #199381” in the subject line.

Thanks!

Hi Stephen,

This adapter can do a bridge connection if you configure it correctly in Linux.

These instructions might help:

i tryed downloading the diagnostic program and its said (the document was not UTF-8 valid)

Hi Stephen,

That’s weird. The link just goes to a web page, so UTF encoding should not be a problem. Try pasting the link directly into the address bar of your web browser. Here it is again:
