Fit to TV option for UD-3900 Dual Display USB 3.0 Docking Station DisplayLink Manager is Greyed Out

I’m using your UD-3900 USB 3.0 Docking station with 2 external displays on my Surface Pro 2 but one of my displays (a Hannspree HSG1075 TV using the HDMI interface) needs to utilize the Fit to TV option as the edges of my WIndows 8.1 screen cannot be seen. For some reason, this option is greyed out in the Displaylink Manager menu so I cannot access the additional options I require to shrink my screen to fit this display. I’ve tried various resolutions (supports up to 1920x1200) to no avail. I just installed your latest driver (version 7.75.59032.0) as well and it doesn’t help.

Can you help?

Hi Arbra,

Thanks for posting. I’m sorry the Fit to TV option isn’t available to make the image fit on your TV. I’d be happy to help.

Thanks for the great detail you provided. You are running the latest version of the driver that we recommend but in this instance the first step would be to clean that driver from your system and install the latest from DisplayLink to see if that changes the behavior. Please follow these steps:

  1. Disconnect the dock from the computer and please remove the power cable from the dock so it turns off completely. Please keep it disconnected until the last step.

  2. Uninstall the DisplayLink Core software from the Control Panel -> Programs and Features. Don’t worry if this fails, just move onto the next step

  3. Download and run the DisplayLink cleaner tool, found here:
    http://displaylink.com/techsupport_fi…

  4. Once the Cleaner has been run, reboot (even if not prompted to)

  5. Now download and run the 7.7 M4 DisplayLink software, found here:
    http://displaylink.com/support/sla.ph…

  6. Reboot, even if not prompted to

  7. Once you’re back in Windows, reattach the power cable to the dock first. Once the dock is powered on, reconnect it to your PC which will trigger the final portion of the installation

Please let us know if that lets the image be fitted to your TV, and we can go from there.

Thank you,

Bob

I followed your instructions to the letter (including all of the reboots - plus another it prompted for after the first Displaylink driver removal and before the cleaner).

No change!

My display’s image is still too large for the screen and no Fit to TV option can be selected (still grayed out).

It recognizes my TV as it’s named HSG1075 - yet if I go into Advanced Settings, choose the Monitor tab, there it shows as a Generic PnP Monitor.

What’s next?

Hi Arbra,

Thanks for getting back. I’m sorry updating the driver did not help.

The next step would be to get more details about your system. Please download and run our PlugDebug utility –> http://plugable.com/support/plugdebug and send the file that the program creates to support@plugable.com with ‘Ticket 97409’ in the subject line so we can match everything up.

Once we have the file we can determine the next steps and go from there.

Thanks,

Bob

The zip file has been sent.

I had meant to update this thread months ago but obviously made an error. Just an update to this thread for anyone following it…

The limitation in this case was that two displays were connected to the dock. The Fit to TV option will only be available when a single display is connected to the dock. This is a limitation of the DisplayLink driver itself. As DisplayLink writes all of the drivers, the best way to voice the need for the removal of this limitation would be to make a suggestion to DisplayLink via this form –> http://support.displaylink.com/forums…

Thank you,

Bob
