External monitor not being detected by Windows 11

External monitor not being detected by Windows 11. I have an HP ZBook Firefly 15 G8, ProdID 63Q8OUT#ABA. I updated the bios, ran windows update.

I have a newer LG monitor connected via DisplayPort to the TBT4-UDZ dock but Windows will not detect it. I’ve also tried an HDMI cable but that didn’t work either.

Hello Daniel,

Thank you for contacting Plugable support! Sorry to hear about this issue. I’d be more than happy to assist you.

Looking at the specifications and user manual for your HP 63Q8OUT computer model, it appears it could be configured with either USB-C or Thunderbolt 4. Do you know which version your computer is?

Can you also confirm that you’re connecting the dock to the computer using the 40Gbps Thunderbolt 4 cable that the dock originally shipped with?

Finally, I would like to get a closer look from a software perspective if able. We have a troubleshooting tool that helps us find out what is going on in situations like this. Please plug the dock into your computer, then go to this page and follow the instructions there:
http://plugable.com/support/plugdebug

When emailing us the diagnostics results to support@plugable.com, please mention ticket #506395 in the subject line so we can match things up. Don’t post the diagnostics results here!

Once I know more about your computer and setup, and if you’re able to provide diagnostics information, I can help to offer some next steps.

Please don’t hesitate to let us know of other questions.

Thanks again for contacting Plugable support and best wishes!

My HP ZBook has thunderbolt ports and thunderbolt was enabled in the BIOS. I had originally replaced the cable that came with the TBT4-UDZ because it kept losing connection to either second monitor or the network, don’t remember right now. I had replaced it with a USB-C cable and that worked for quite a while until the cats walked across my keyboard and all my monitors were messed up.

I picked up a thunderbolt cable today as I couldn’t find what I did with the original and the external monitor just started working. So I’m all good, thanks for the information Joshua.
