External monitor is black after sleep on Mac.

After returning from sleep my MacBook Pro 13" with Touch Bar my external display is dark. I’m running High Sierra and has an external 4K display (Lenovo P27) connected through the USB-C DP adapter. If I restart everything is back to normal again.

Hi Michael, thanks for posting and I will be happy to help!

Based off of your description we will want to see if preforming an SMC or NVRAM reset on your MacBook Pro helps resolve this issue. Apple has guides here --> https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201295 and here --> https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204063 for resetting these respectively.

If these steps do not help we’ll be happy to send you a replacement cable to make sure that the hardware itself is working properly and we will contact you directly to begin this process.

Thank you,

Hi David,
Thank you for your reply.
I have now tried the SMC and NVRAM reset and I’m still experiencing the same problem.
I have also updated all possible apps and tried working with different screen resolutions, but to no avail.

Maybe we should try the replacement route.

Michael

Hello Michael, thank you for taking the time to try those steps and sorry to hear that they did not help. I have reached out to you directly to facilitate the replacement process and we will want to limit communication to that email thread to keep things in one place and then we will update this forum thread with results.

Thank you,

David W.
