Error opening installation log file. Verify the specified log file exists and is writable. Windows 7
Hi JR,
We sent the following directly via email, but have not received a response. Posting here as well just in case that email didn’t reach you.
Thanks,
Gary
HI JR,
Thanks for contacting Plugable! I’ll be glad to assist.
I’ve never seen a report of this specific error message, so I checked with our other graphics team members, and they hadn’t either. So something really, really unusual must be going on here. Based on the obscurity of the message, I’m not optimistic that we’re going to find a quick and easy fix, but I’ll be happy to help investigate if you’re up for it.
One thing to double check - is this an IT managed system? If so do they created locked-down User accounts without installation privileges? Also, was a special Windows 7 installation/image created for this system, or is it just a standard out-of-the box configuration as far as you’re aware?
And though I’m not sure if the following tool will flag any errors (since this sounds like an issue with the under-the-hood installation processes Windows uses), can you please run the compatibility checking tool from the following link and let me know the results?

Thanks!
