Dual monitors if both DVI?

Can you connect two monitors to the DVI port on this dock using a splitter or do you have to have one DVI and one HDMI monitor? If connecting 2 using a splitter, can you extend or will it just duplicate?

Hi Bree,

Thanks for posting your question here! You cannot connect two monitors to the DVI port on Plugable UD-3900 using a spliter. However you can use an HDMI to DVI cable to connect the HDMI port on the dock to the monitor via DVI. The second monitor can be connected via DVI to the DVI port on the dock.

If you use the HDMI to DVI cable, you can plug it in to the HDMI port on the dock on one end and the DVI input port on the monitor on the other end.

When you use the HDMI to DVI cable, the conversion from HDMI to DVI is passive as they are both basically the same connection with a different form factor with HDMI having additional audio functionality. This means that the HDMI signal is being converted to DVI-D (DVI digital only) signal.

If you need any additional information, please do feel free to shoot us an email at support@plugable.com. We are here to help!
