I am trying to use two computers each with one vga and one dvi port with two monitors or three monitors if possible. I want to be able to go back and forth between the two pcs and use only one keyboard and mouse. Also, my lcd’s don’t have usb ports. Can this device help me do that? If so, do I have to buy multiple devices or just one? Thanks! Oz
Hi - Thanks for posting! The Plugable universal docking station can help by getting all those devices (keyboard, mouse, and one additional monitor) via a single USB connection.
But it doesn’t do any switching itself - you would then have a single USB cable to physically switch between the machines, when you want to move the display, keyboard, and mouse from one machine to the other.
Or, if you’d rather have a button rather than physically moving the USB cable, it can work in conjunction with a USB switch like this http://www.amazon.com/Nu-USB-Share-Sw…
So, doesn’t completely solve the problem on its own, but helps by getting several devices behind one USB connection, making switching of all the devices easier using standard USB mechanisms.
And you only need to buy one http://plugable.com/products/ud-160-a/
Hope that helps. Thanks again!
