I recently purchased a USB 3.0 Mutli-Display Adapter for my work computer and IT has blocked us from installing drivers not on their list of approved drivers, is there any work around to get this adapter functioning since I cannot install the driver from the cd rom or off the website, running windows 7 on an hp elitebook 840 g3
Hi Justin,
Thank you so much for reaching out to us, I am sorry to hear that you are running into this issue, but I would be happy to clarify!
Unfortunately, in order to utilize our device, the system the adapter is connected needs to have admin credentials, and the only way for the device to communicate properly is to have the DisplayLink drivers installed. You might be able to run a Windows update and see if the included driver will be installed, but most likely you will need to contact your IT department to have them manually load the driver, or add it as a supported software installation.
I am sorry that this is the case, but if you are not able to utilize any of these approaches, please feel free to reach out to us directly at support@plugable.com, and we would be more than happy to work through some additional steps!
Thank you for your time,

Hi Everyone,
We attempted to reach out to Justin to advise him that the DisplayLink driver does require admin privileges in order to install them properly, and he may need to contact his IT department in order to resolve the issue.
If Justin would like to continue troubleshooting, or anyone else is running into the same issue, please reach out to us directly at support@plugable.com.
Thank you for your time,
