Dreaded USB device not recognized message

I received a USB3-SATA-UASP1 in the mail from Amazon today, but am receiving the following message:

USB device not recognized.

I am running Windows 7 x64 with USB 2.0. The device did not come with a USB 2.0 cable, but I have one available. Unfortunately, switching to the USB 2.0 cable still does not solve the problem. I have tried other USB ports as well.

I have looked at other posts suggesting to update the firmware, but the device is not even recognized to update. When I power on the unit it goes from pink to blue for a few seconds back to pink. Any chance I have a bad dock?

Hi Andrew,

Thanks for contacting Plugable! I’ll be glad to assist.

We’ve got a troubleshooting tool called PlugDebug that’s helpful in situations like this. It allows us to get a better idea of which drivers are on the system, as well as installation and error logs.

At your convenience, if you could please head over to:
http://plugable.com/support/plugdebug

There you will find a download link as well as instructions. You’ll want to run the program with the dock attached, and email the .zip file it generates to support@plugable.com. Once we have the .zip file it generates, we’ll have a look and see if there is anything on the software side occurring that might be causing the error.

Thanks!
Gary
