Does "Plugable USB 2.0 to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter" work with Wii?

Does “Plugable USB 2.0 to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter” work with Wii?
Is it compatible with Nintendo Wii?

Hi - Thanks so much for the question!

No, the Plugable 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet Adapter (http://www.amazon.com/Plugable-Gigabi… ) does not work with the Wii (the Wii has a limited set of USB ethernet drivers it supports in the box, and can’t be extended).

But we do have two USB ethernet adapters that will: the Plugable 10/100 Fast Ethernet Adapter, with Black and White versions available (/http://www.amazon.com/Plugable-Fast-E… for the Black version, http://www.amazon.com/USB-High-Speed-… for the white version).

These will work with all Wii systems out of the box.

Thanks again for the question!

Not using Wii. I have a USB wireless network adapter and want to connect it to the computer’s RJ45 ethernet jack.

Hi Charles,

Thanks for posting! If you are asking if the Plugable Gigabit Ethernet LAN Network Adapter can be used as a bridge between the wireless and wired network, the answer is an absolute No.

The Plugable Gigabit Ethernet LAN Network Adapter is a USB 2.0 male A to RJ45 female adapter supporting gigabit ethernet at USB 2.0 speeds. It adds another ethernet interface to your PC/laptop, via USB.

The most common usage is for people who want to add an additional network interface to their computer/laptop via a simple USB adapter to improve the connectivity speed when a Gigabit Ethernet network is available.

As with all typical USB devices, the Plugable Gigabit Ethernet LAN Network Adapter only works when it is connected to an upstream computer host. The installation of drivers and configuring of network settings for this device is done on the host. Without any network settings, no connectivity is possible between the LAN Adapter and the connected router.

Hope the above information is helpful! If you need any additional information, please feel free to post back here or shoot us an email at support @plugable.com. We are here to help!
