Dock for HP Spectre x360 13t Convertible 13-ae005na

Hi

I just purchased the HP Spectre x360 13t Convertible 13-ae005na, and would like to get a dock for it. the laptop has 2 USB-C ports and 1 USB3-SS A

My requirement is to have an External Monitor, my current Monitor has DVI-D and HDMI ports, although I may likely move to a 4K monitor in the future.

Not sure if a second monitor could be supported which would be a nice option but not essential.

I would also like the 1Gb Ethernet connected Via the Dock

And I would like to charge through the Dock (without using the HP charger if possible), have Keyboard and wireless mouse adaptor, and have the Audio out currently using a 3.5mm jack, and the ability to plug USB stick, tablet and/or SD card (or USB adapter for SD card)

Could this also support an External HDD too

I do not have gaming requirements of this setup.

Is that possible and which Dock would you recommend?

Thank you!

Hi Phil,

Thank you so much for reaching out to us! I would be more than happy to assist.

Based on the individual model number you have supplied, the devices you would like to connect, as well as the fact that you may move into a 4K monitor in the future, our UD-CAM (www.plugable.com/products/ud-cam) would be a great fit!

The UD-CAM provides 85W of Power Delivery to charge the system, a 1Gb Ethernet port, a HDMI 1.4 port that supports 4K @ 30Hz, 4 USB 3.0 ports, and an audio port for connecting a speaker, headset or microphone pair into the docking station. All of this connected to your system with just a single cable!

I hope this information helps, if you have any additional questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to us directly at support@plugable.com.

I had noticed the UD-CAM, and its looks ideal, is it available in the UK?

Hi Phil,

It is a really great docking stations, and is currently an Amazon Choice here in the U.S. We are working on getting some units to be made available in the UK, we just have to get the stock available and create the listings and ensure we are following all Energy Conservation guidelines for that region. We are shooting for a March release, so please check back in and we can see what we can do if they are not up!

Connected up the power and HDMI, and then the USB-C to start with and it all connected after a few seconds.

First think is the laptop moans about it not being an HP Power connection each time I start.

I have a very old screen with a now old fashioned 1920x1080 resolution and using a good quality HDMI cable, I could not get a decent picture on this monitor, I have set Extended Display, the settings are the same as the monitor at 100%, but the fonts are very soft.

Even with the laptop screen turned off, the external monitor is not clear, although I think this is windows 10 as when I drag stuff between screens it is clear (if very large) and then becomes blurry when Windows resizes the object on the external monitor… well I think.

Hi Phil,

Thank you so much for reaching out to us! I am so happy to hear that you were able to receive the UD-CAM and have it ordered. I enjoyed viewing all of the pictures, and I am sorry to hear that you ran into such a strange issue with the font and text on your display.

I am wondering that due to your display type, we may need to increase the scale from 100% to 125%. When you have a moment, please go to go START > PC SETTINGS > DISPLAY

You will see an option that says: Change the size of text, apps, and other items: 100% (recommended). Then, move this to 125% and see if the same exact blurred text occurs.

I tried the scaling settings at 125% and 150% and rebooting after, but still the display fonts are blurry on the external screen. General googling seem to suggest DPI issues having the 4K laptop screen and the HD external monitor, but this can’t be an unusual setup as most monitors are 1920x1280?

As mentioned if I drag a window from the laptop screen to the external montor, while the window transitions the part window is very large on the external mornitor but complettely Clear, but as soon as Windows resizes it to a normal size, it goes blurry.

I tried updating all drivers including the Bios on the laptop through the HP Support assistant, but the issue still persists.

Thanks for you help
