DisplayLink Driver no longer working MacOS Catalina

Everything was working great yesterday. Overnight my MacBook upgraded to the latest OS version 10.15.6 and this morning I saw a message that the DisplayLink driver is no longer compatible.

I uninstalled the driver and reinstalled it and it still doesn’t work. Actually it wouldn’t reinstall the installed failed to complete and crashed.

Hi,

Thank you for reaching out to us!

Working through direct email the displays are back up and working after installing the DisplayLink Manager App for MacOS 10.15.

DisplayLink has released a new DisplayLink Manager App that no longer relies on the KEXT driver. This App just came out with a full release and is available directly from DisplayLink but will hopefully be in the Mac App Store soon. To install the new App I recommend we start with removing the older driver following these instructions:

  1. Remove the currently installed DisplayLink software following these instructions ( https://plugable.com/drivers/displaylink/mac/#uninstall )
  2. Download the new DisplayLink Manager App from DisplayLink’s website here ( https://www.displaylink.com/downloads/macos ) release version 1.0.0 from June 22nd
  3. DisplayLink provides detailed installation instructions for the App here ( https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/1932214-displaylink-manager-app-for-macos-introduction-in ) please note, by default the DisplayLink software will not launch after restart, steps 5.4 through 5.6 details enabling the software at login
