device powers off during boot up

The green power light on my USB 3.0 HDD Docking Station is on when the drive (Western Digital 3.0TB) is docked, but it switches itself off (as well as stops reading the drive) very quickly into the boot up. Is is the power supply or the HD?

Thanks for posting your question! Regarding the green light on the Hard Drive Docking Station, if you connect the the power supply and no USB cable to the dock, and with no drive in the dock, the green light should come on and stay on.

I have a couple of questions regarding your issue:

  1. Is the drive in the dock formatted? Is it known to be good?

  2. What Operating System are you using? Can the O.S. see the dock and drive before the light goes out?
