Device is on strike?

I have been using two of your USB 2.0 display adapters for a couple of months with 19-inch VGA monitors which give me a better aspect ratio than today’s wide screens. But recently one of them started refusing to work. All I get is a tone telling me it’s not well. I switched adapters between the monitors and the working display changed also, so it’s definitely an adapter problem. I’ve tried reboots with and without the adapter with no change. Do these devices go bad, or is there something else I should try?
