Daisy Chaining USB3-HUB7-81X Seven-Port USB 3.0 Hub

How many of these units can I daisy chain together to clone hard drives?
Thank you.

Hello,

Thank you for contacting Plugable support! I’d be more than happy to assist you with this issue.

Under ideal conditions, you can go 5 hubs deep in the chain.

There are several important factors to consider. Any USB 3.0 hub with more than 4 ports will need more than one hub internally. Our 7 port hub is actually two 4 port hubs (our 10 port for example is three hubs), one connected to another internally.

To connect the most 7 port hubs together, you will have to connect each 7 port hub to an upstream port on another hub (ports 5, 6, or 7).

Please see this diagram for additional information: !](https://d2r1vs3d9006ap.cloudfront.net/s3_images/1075529/USB3-HUB7-81X_daisychain_inline.jpg?1405103005)](https://d2r1vs3d9006ap.cloudfront.net/s3_images/1075529/USB3-HUB7-81X_daisychain.jpg?1405103005)

Other factors can also apply such as the total USB device limit. Traditionally up to 127 total devices could be connected over USB, however, with Windows 8, we have seen this limit is much lower.

Please don’t hesitate to let us know of other questions.

Thanks again for contacting Plugable support and best wishes!
