The USB audio device seems to have a minor crackle in the left ear. It doesn’t happen all the time and unplugging and replugging it seems to temporarily fix the issue. The headset does not have the crackle when plugged directly. Any ideas?

I am sorry to hear this. My first thought is/was the headphone jack, but you have ruled this out already. It is probably best just to try a pretested replacement unit to rule out hardware failure.
