I am trying to connect 2 Dell u2415 monitors to a Lenovo X1 Carbon via the Plugable UD-3900, but I don’t seem to have the necessary cables.
Can I only connect the monitors to the DVI-VGA input and the HDMI input? If that is the case, are there any specific cables that would be best for connecting the Dell u2415 monitors?
Thanks!
Hi T,
Thanks for posting! I’d be happy to answer you question.
I have the exact monitors on my desk The ‘cleanest’ way to connect the displays would be to use one HDMI cable from the HDMI output of the dock to the HDMI input of the first monitor and then use a DVI-HDMI cable to connect from the DVI output of the dock to the HDMI input on the second monitor.
We don’t make a DVI-HDMI cable ourselves, but several of our customers have had success with this one:

Bob - thanks for the response. Another quick question – if I didn’t read the instructions and plugged the plugable in before installing the drivers, do I have to do any uninstalling? Or will an extra restart do the trick?
Thanks
Hi T,
If you connect the docking station without having installed the drivers beforehand, Windows will automatically download the drivers but it will be a slightly older version than we recommend.
You can simply disconnect the dock, uninstall the current drivers and re-install the latest version we recommend from here –> http://plugable.com/drivers/displaylink
Thanks,
Bob
Sorry to get down to basics, but several drivers seem to have been installed with the plugable. Can you tell me exactly which they were?
Hi T,
You should be able to uninstall the DisplayLink Core software from within Programs and Features via the Control Panel and it will uninstall itself as well as the DisplayLink Graphics component. Once complete, reboot your system and keep the dock disconnected and install the newer version and then reconnect the dock and you should be good to go.
Thanks,
Bob
