I have a 2017 Apple 27" iMac and a Lenovo t14s laptop. I’d like to connect 2 Dell monitors to the docking station and then connect either the iMac OR the Lenovo to the docking station to use the displays. Would the UD-3900C be appropriate for this?
The Apple computer has the following ports:
Two Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) ports with support for:
DisplayPort
Thunderbolt (up to 40 Gbps)
USB 3.1 Gen 2 (up to 10 Gbps)
Thunderbolt 2, HDMI, DVI, and VGA supported using adapters
Thank you for inquiring about our UD-3900C. To help answer your question the UD-3900C can be connected to either your iMac or Lenovo laptop. In addition, depending on the specifications of your Dell monitors and your application needs the UD-3900C may be a good solution for your requirements.
The UD-3900C provides the following:
Video Ports
2x HDMI 1.3 video ports with supported resolution up to 2048x1152 @ 60Hz USB ports
Please keep in mind that the UD-3900C dock does not charge the host laptop. You will have to connect the power adapter originally included with your laptops in order to charge the laptop while connected to the dock.
We also recommend installing the latest DisplayLink software for your iMac and Lenovo laptop to ensure best possible performance. You can learn more about the latest DisplayLink software here: https://plugable.com/pages/displaylink
Should you elect to move forward with a purchase and find that the UD-3900C dock does not meet your needs, we do offer a 30-day no-hassle return policy for all products sold by Plugable and fulfilled by Amazon.
We hope this helps and if you have any further questions or concerns please let us know and we would be happy to further assist.
