Configuration of laptop with two external monitors

If I want a second expaned view monitor on my laptop, do I run the first external monitor in normal expanded mode as I’m doing, then add the additional usb monitor or do I have to run all external monitors as usb (ie. 2 plugable in 2 usb ports)?

Hi Elliot!

Many thanks for posting and for your question!

“do I run the first external monitor in normal expanded mode as I’m doing, then add the additional usb monitor” - exactly!

Since you have one monitor already connected and in expanded mode, you only need one of our USB graphics adapters to use with your second external monitor. Once you hook it up you will have all the typical options that Windows provides (with Win 7 being the easiest to configure) such as expanded mode, clone etc.

If you would like, give us some more details on your laptop specs (model and make) and the make/model of your monitor and we can make recommendations on which models of our adapters would work the best with your setup!

Again thank for your question and let us know if there’s anything else we can help with!

Have a great day!
