The com port number for my plugable USB Serial Converter changes after a reboot, causing my application to fail. Can you keep the same com port number after the reboot, either by a setting or by some scripting, on Windows 7 and 8?
Hi Glenn,
Thanks for posting, I’ll try to help. Try setting the COM number manually in Device Manager. You can double click on the entry for the USB to Serial cable and then select the port settings tab. Click the advanced button and you’ll be able to set the COM port manually. On my system, as long as the cable is connected to the same USB port, it gets the same COM number.
I hope this helps. If not, please reply back with your Amazon Order Id to support@plugable.com and we’ll be happy to try and find a way to get your COM number to remain static.
Thanks,
Jerome.
