Can't Safely Remove WD Passport Drive Using Plugable 3.0 Host Controller

My WD Passport wont stop so I can safely remove using the Plugable PCI 3.0. It just keeps spinning. Indexing of the drive is off and the Passport stop when I attach it to my 2.0 USB ports.

Hi Ted!

Thanks for posting and sorry to hear our Plugable PCI Express USB 3.0 Card is giving you trouble!

Let’s get some more information to narrow this down:
* Can you give us the exact model of your WD Passport?
* What version of Windows are you running?
* If you go to ‘Device Manager’ and under ‘Universal Serial Bus controllers’, do you see a ‘Renesas Electronics USB 3.0 Host Controller’ ? If yes, right click on it, click ‘Properties’ and ‘Driver’. What is the ‘Driver Version’ that you have?

* Are you getting an error message when you’re trying to eject the drive ? Can you get us a screenshot of that ?

Once we have this information we can suggest next steps!

Lampros,

Figured it out. I was an indexing problem. Apparently I the indexing files were being sent to my external drive–so the drive was constantly running as the indexing was working. I change the location for the indexing so it is no longer on my external drive.

Thank you for the prompt response. The 3.0 is very fast and was easy to install. Plugable support is as good as others have noted on Amazon!
