Can the 'plugable USB 3.0 2 way switch' be used to switch 'thunderbolt'

Is it possible to use the Plugable USB 3.0 2 way switch to share a ‘thunderbolt’ connection between two PCs and a ‘thunderbolt’ enabled dock? Assuming the relevant cables / adapters are used between the switch and the devices.

Hi Kevin,

Thanks for asking, I am sorry, but our USB 3.0 switch cannot switch Thunderbolt 3 devices. To expand on this, Thunderbolt 3 requires a direct connection between the host device ( computer ) and target device ( peripheral ) to function. Also a USB 3.0 switch will not connect to Thunderbolt 3 ports or cablese, using adapters from USB 3.1 Type-C to USB 3.0 Type-A will not work either.

Currently the best method of switching the docking station between two system is to disconnect the cable and move it from one system to the other. Another option would be to purchase a second Thunderbolt 3 cable, connect one end to the second system and switch the cables at the docking station.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions!

Thank you,

Pat
