I would like to switch between my laptop and my desktop computers. My laptop has a 3.0 port and my desktop has a 2.0 port. I need a longer cable to attach my desktop to the docking station when necessary. It can be 2.0, if that will work with my docking station.

Thanks for posting your question here! We do not recommend using long USB 3.0 cables, but you can use a longer USB 2.0 cable like our Plugable 5M USB 2.0 Active Extension Cable to connect the desktops’s USB 2.0 port to the Plugable UD-3000.
Please note that the Docking Station and all devices connected through it will only operate on USB 2.0 speeds though.
