"bluetooth peripheral device doesn't have a driver"

I’m trying to connect my beatsX wireless headphones to my windows 7, 64-bit computer at work. I bought plugables USB bluetooth adapter. The headphones seem to pair and event connect but the audio is not playing on my headphones STILL. I tried troubleshooting my headphones and two problems were found: “bluetooth peripheral device doesn’t have a driver.” What should I try next?

Hi Ashley,

Thank you for posting about your Bluetooth adapter. The message you are seeing can come for several reasons. Some of them are:

  1. Windows 7 doesn’t have Bluetooth audio support, so the special drivers for this adapter have to be installed. You can install them from this link:
    https://s3.amazonaws.com/plugable/bin…

  2. Your computer is in an office environment where the IT staff has restricted installation of Bluetooth software or Bluetooth connections.

  3. You may need to update your BeatsX headphones. Please check on the Beats website about this.

  4. There could be other software or drivers on your computer that are conflicting with the software for the Plugable adapter.

The easiest way for us to help with this is if you run our diagnostic program. It will gather device information and installation logs that will help me understand what is happening.

To do this, please plug the adapter into your computer, then go to this page, and follow the instructions there:

http://plugable.com/support/plugdebug

When you run the program, it will create a zip file on your desktop with your computer name and the date. Please send that file directly to our support email address: support@plugable.com

Please put “For Ticket #174699” in the subject line.

Of course it it turns out something is wrong with the adapter, we will get a replacement out to you right away.

Thanks!

David
