Bluetooth headset can't connect as Headset/Speakerphone, only stereo

Under Windows XP, I can connect fine to my headset (an LG HBS-730) as a stereo music device, but the option to connect as a headset/speakerphone (and thus be able to use the microphone) isn’t available in the Device Control as it should be per the Broadcom help file. Works great in Win7. I’m perfectly fine with never allowing it to connect in stereo mode to this XP box if it’s possible to disallow that profile?

Hi Steve,

Thanks for posting your question here, we’d be glad to help! Just to clarify, you want to be able to connect the headset to your XP machine and use the microphone as well? If so, let’s check a few things:

  1. When the headset is connected to your XP machine, right click on the Bluetooth icon in the system tray and select Show Bluetooth Devices
  2. Right click on the headset and select Properties
  3. Open the Services tab, would you mind sending over a screenshot of what you see here?

You can reply back to us directly at support@plugable.com and we’ll take a look asap.

Thanks for any additional details you can provide!

Cheers,
Ellen
