Blue screen of death on Windows 8 (Acer PC) - DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION error

Hi there,

I’m having problems with my Plugable USB 3.0 docking station. It is making my computer behave very strangely - can’t accomplish some Windows tasks, like switching between applications - and I’ve had the blue screen of death twice. The error message is DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION.

I believe the docking station is causing the problem because when I unplug it, everything goes back to normal.

Do I need to install a new driver or something?

Many thanks
Catharine

Hi Catharine - Sorry, that’s frustrating! We’ve had a few reports of this that were caused and solved by different Intel graphics drivers in combination with DisplayLink.

We’d like to check if your machine just updated Intel drivers, and what version is currently running. Could you run our debug tool and email us the .zip file it generates so we can see what’s happening on the system? Here’s how:

Just link to this ticket in the email, so we have the context.

Again, my apologies. Thanks for your help in tracking this down. Hopefully a quick driver update will solve it.

Thanks!
