Best USB-C Docking Station for Multiple Monitors Expert Recommendations

I researched the best USB-C docking stations for the past few days because I want to improve my workstation setup and connect multiple devices to my laptop through a single cable. I read reviews on tech websites, YouTube channels, and user forums, and most experts seem to recommend these two models:

Plugable Dual 1080p HDMI Universal Docking Station

Anker Nano 13-in-1 Laptop Docking Station

However, I’m having trouble deciding which one would best suit my needs and need your expert advice.

I use my laptop for office work, web browsing, video conferencing, content creation, and occasional multitasking with multiple monitors. I need a docking station that offers reliable performance, plenty of ports, and easy connectivity for monitors, external drives, keyboard, mouse, and other accessories.

So which one should I buy? Has anyone used either of these USB-C docking stations? Any recommendations or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for asking!

While there are similarities between these two docks, there are some core fundamental differences. The Plugable dock referenced is our UD-3900Z. This is a DisplayLink based dock that can connect to a laptop via USB-C or USB-A but it cannot charge the battery of the laptop. Additionally, a DisplayLink dock like this will require the DisplayLink software to be installed in order for the two HDMI ports to work.

The Anker dock is an MST based dock and it is USB-C only. This means that the laptop that it is being connected to must support USB-C DisplayPort Alternate Mode for video output and the laptop must support USB-C Power Delivery for laptop charging to work. This dock cannot be connected via a USB-A connection because of these requirements.
