Adapter not Connecting to ethernet

I have a Plugable USB 3.0 Ethernet Adapter. The computer runs WIndows 8 and the Control Panel recognizes the adapter as a ASIX AX8179 USB 3.0 to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter. There is “Limited” connection and running a diagnose gives " no valid IP configuation". Any suggestions?
